A tour of the workspace
The Ngenaire workspace has two main regions of chrome — the sidebar on the left and the top bar across the top — wrapped around the main content area. This page shows you where everything is.
The sidebar
The sidebar is organized around the engineering lifecycle. Sections use single-word, verb-form labels in lifecycle order:
- DEFINE — concept of operations, statement of work, requirements, trade studies.
- MODEL — diagrams and architecture.
- VERIFY — test plans, procedures, and coverage.
- TRACK — schedule, risks, and issues.
- REPORT — generated documents.
Above and below those phase sections you will also find the Dashboard (the project's home page) and Project Settings.
On smaller screens the sidebar collapses into a drawer that you open with the menu icon.
The top bar
Across the top bar you have:
- AI console button — opens the AI Assistant side panel. You can also toggle it with Cmd/Ctrl + K from anywhere.
- Global search — search across the active project's artifacts. See Search.
- Notifications bell — shows an unread badge; click it to open the notification center. See Notifications.
- Help (?) — opens this guide.
- User menu — your avatar opens a menu with Profile, Billing, your Organizations, and an Appearance switcher (Dark / Light / System).
The AI Assistant panel
Click AI in the top bar (or press Cmd/Ctrl + K) to slide open the assistant. It stays available while you navigate, so you can ask about whatever you are looking at. A full-screen version is also available at /ai-assistant.
The main content area
This is where each page renders. Most pages share a familiar layout: a page header with the title and primary actions, a toolbar with filters and view toggles, the content itself (a list, board, editor, or canvas), and a detail drawer that opens when you select an item.
Tips
- Press Cmd/Ctrl + K anywhere to summon the AI Assistant; press Esc to close it.
- Switch appearance from the user menu if the default Dark theme is not your preference.
